What a day!

Well, today definately didn't start out like I had planned. I thought that I was going to bring my dad into clinic, take a full mouth, clean a couple of quads and then send him on his way. When I was getting ready for clinic, however, I was talking to Alisha and discovered that she had a rough morning which included, among other things, having her patient cancel on her. She was given another patient by another member of our class but the patient was just a class 5. Seeing that it is late in the semester and so many people are still needing to meet qualifications I thought that I could help make Alisha's day a little better and let her clean my dad since he is a class 2. I had already done the OD for him when I brought him up to the clinic for a screening, so I thought that the timing would be perfect; I would take his full mouth while Alisha did the OD on her patient and then we could switch. I thought that we would have plenty of time to get everything done. Sometimes, though, time passes much faster than you would like it to as you are waiting for instructors to check your work.
Well, at about 20 minutes to 3 I was finally starting to scale. I thought that it went well, but I did miss 4 spots which I didn't think that I would have that many. I was a little disappointed with that, but considering the situation and the amount of time that I had I was just greatful to get the patient done.
I suppose that in the end it went okay but it was a little stressful getting to that point.

Class 1B/5

Today went okay, but I did take a while to scale. I am not sure if I was worried because my patient was a friend of mine and I wanted to make sure that everything went well. I did miss a couple of spots as well, but I feel like I am getting better detecting calculus. I also finished up my sealants today. I have all three of them done and I did the OD for all of them. I was finally able to do my Diagnodent PE. I have used it now on 4 patients and wanted to do my PE everytime but ran out of time to actually pass off the PE. I am glad that is done. I only have my intraoral camera PE left to do which feels so great.
All in all I would say that it was a good day!

Class 1B

So everything seemed to go well today other than the fact that I thought that scale check was at 10:45 rather than walk out at that time. Needless to say I was running a little behind. I only missed one location, though, and I felt good about my scaling. I was happy for the experience. I was also able to see what a real defective margin looks like. My patient had defective margins on almost all of his restorations. It felt weird to scale because I kept catching and it felt like I was missing areas but it wasn't calculus. It was a good experience to be able to feel the difference between an overhang and a calculus deposit. I also forgot to chart recession which I do forget sometimes. Everything else went well and I was able to finish the patient today.
All and all I would say it was a good day!
